Welcome Coaches

Thank you for signing up as the Coach for your football teams Touchdowns Against Cancer (TAC) fundraising campaign. You have joined an exclusive group of Coaches who believe in defeating childhood cancer. There are more than 16,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer every year. As the Coach, you will primarily be responsible for finding a Volunteer Captain to help with your team’s fundraising efforts. Frequently Asked Questions

You will be asked a fair number of questions before and during September. One of your roles is to point people in the right direction. The below questions and answers will provide you the correct information to share when someone needs help or wants to learn more!

1.

What is Touchdowns Against Cancer?

Touchdowns Against Cancer is a national program created in partnership between MaxPreps, Pledge It and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, this first-of-its-kind high school football program aims to unify teams across the country for a common cause: defeating childhood cancer. Every touchdown scored between September 14 – 30 will directly benefit St. Jude and the fight against childhood cancer.

Varsity high school football teams can participate in this unique opportunity by launching Pledge It fundraisers supporting St. Jude. Fans can pledge a donation toward every touchdown their team scores during the last three weeks in September. Teams, conferences, and states will compete to see whose touchdowns raise the most in the fight against childhood cancer!

2.

Who can participate in Touchdowns Against Cancer?

Everyone – there are multiple ways to participate! Parents and coaches can join their team’s campaign as a captain to help lead the campaign, students and student-athletes can sign-up to be an individual fundraiser for their team and family, friends and fans can donate to their favorite team. Go to touchdownsagainstcancer.com to see how you can get involved.

3.

Who is receiving the funds raised through Touchdowns Against Cancer?

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, is the beneficiary of all funds raised through the Touchdowns Against Cancer program. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. No child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay. To learn more, visit St. Jude.

4.

How much of my donation will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital?

Pledge It is free to everyone, which means 100% of every donation will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (minus the 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee).  All online fundraising requires a third-party payment processor to allow money to be safely collected and transferred online.

Pledge It is proud to be free because we understand that when you’re trying to make a difference, every dollar counts. To learn more, visit Why Pledge It Is Free.

5.

Is my donation tax-deductible and will I receive a receipt?

Yes. Your gift to St. Jude is tax-deductible and you will receive a receipt for your donation. Receipts are emailed immediately after your debit or credit card is charged. The receipt contains IRS tax compliant language that can be used for tax purposes. If you are unable to find your email receipt, contact Pledge It customer support at support@pledgeit.org or (888) 847-9854.
